RULES AND AMATEUR STATUS

INTRODUCTION
With effect from 1st January 2004, The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews transferred the responsibilities and authority for making, interpreting and giving decisions on the Rules of Golf and on the Rules of Amateur Status to R&A Rules Limited.

RULES QUERIES
If a club committee cannot come to a decision regarding a dispute or doubtful point on the Rules, it may refer the dispute or doubtful point to the Rules of Golf Committee of the R&A, whose decision shall be final.

If the dispute or doubtful point has not been referred to the Rules of Golf Committee, the player or players may request that an agreed statement be referred through a duly authorised representative of the Club Committee to the Rules of Golf Committee for an opinion as to the correctness of the decision given. The reply will be sent to this authorised representative.
