Played in two winning United States teams in Curtis Cup matches - as Martha Wilkinson in 1970 at Brae Burn, Mass and as Martha Kirouac in 1972 at Western Gailes, Ayrshire. She won three of her four ties in 1970 and two from four in 1972.

In 1970 Martha won the United States women's amateur championship, beating another Curtis Cup player, Cindy Hill, by 3 and 2 in the final at Wee Burn Golf Club, Connecticut.

After her selection for the 2004 team captaincy by the United States Golf Association women's committee, Martha was quoted by "Golfweek" as saying: "I'm excited beyond belief but scared also. They are big shoes to fill, it's something every player dreams of, but doesn't think is possible."

Martha is director of course rating and member services for the Georgia State Golf Association.

Father Jeff is executive director of the Utah Junior Golf Association.
