Ellis wins Pre-qualifying with a stunning 66
8.15pmEnglish Amateur Charlotte Ellis stole the show on a difficult scoring day with a stunning six under par 66. Her round included four birdies in a front nine of 32 with a further four on the back nine with her only blemishes of the round coming at the 10th and 15th holes.
Ellis said 'It's the first time I've been able to play without pain since May when I cracked a rib. I've been doing alot of short game practice recently so it's good to finally see it paying off'. Ellis joins fellow english players Naomi Edwards, Rachael Conner and Danielle Montgomery who were her closest rivals with one under par 71's.
The cut fell at +3 (75) and there will be 29 competitors progressing through to the final qualifying round played over the same course on the 28th July.

English Amateur duo Naomi Edwards and Danielle Montgomery lead the way at Pre-Qualifying both scoring superb one under par rounds of 71. Conditions are proving tricky and this has been reflected in the scoring with many players stuggling in today's 18 hole qualifying event.
One player who is obviously finding the conditions favourable is Italy's Anna Maria Milie who had a hole in one on the tricky 13th Hole.
With almost half of the field in there are currently 10 players on +3 or better with the top 25 players and ties progressing through to Final Qualifying in two weeks time.

The Berkshire Golf Club, London today plays host to over 100 Professional and Amateur golfers who are vying for a place in this year's Ricoh Women's British Open Championship. The top 25 players plus ties will progress to the Final Qualifying stage on 28th July which again will be played over The Berkshire's wonderful heathland layout.
Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
