Maconi wins Pre-qualifying at the Berkshire
21:00 hrsItalian professional Isabella Maconi scores an impressive 4 under par 68 to win the Pre-Qualifying stage by one stroke from 3 players including Scotland's Heather MacRae. Isabella turned pro in 1993, her best career finish to date being 7th in the 2006 Ladies' English Open.
The cut fell at 74 (+2) and 29 players qualified for the Final Qualifying stage. Final Qualifying will take place over the New Course, St Andrews on Monday 30th July 2007.

Scotland's Heather MacRae sets the pace at the Berkshire with a 3 under par round. Making the turn in a blistering 33, Heather had a roller coaster back nine but held her nerve after a double bogey at the 12th and finished with a score of 69 and pole position.

A record field tees off at the Berkshire Golf Club, Ascot, London today for the Pre-Qualifying stage of this year's Ricoh Women's British Open.
The Berkshire Golf Club has staged the Pre-qualifying stage for several years now but never has seen such an extensive field, one clearly drawn by the lure of St Andrews.
25 players plus ties will progress from this stage to the Final Qualifying round on the New Course, St Andrews on Monday 30th July.
Spectators are welcome and admission is free of charge for both stages.
