Since 1959, the Vagliano Trophy has been a biennial match between teams from the Continent of Europe and Great Britain & Ireland.
Hamburger Golf Club was founded in 1906, and is located in the serene wooded region of Hamburg. It is 25 km south from Hamburg, Germany. The beautiful 18 hole golf course is set among the natural heathland. The course was designed by the team of Harry Shapland Colt, Charles Hugh Alison and John Morrison in the late 1920's and withstood the ravages of the war years. The layout, built on a sandy base, consists of vast greens, tree-lined fairways bordered by native shrubs, and craftily placed bunkers to test even the best golfer. The grand clubhouse provides spectacular views of the course and the surrounding area from its terrace.
