THE HEALTH PERCEPTION LGU CHAMPIONSHIP 2005

The Health Perception LGU Championship is open to all members of affiliated golf clubs in Great Britain and Ireland. The winner will be the Champion Lady Golfer of Great Britain & Ireland and will be invited to play in the Weetabix Women’s British Open Pro-Am in the following year.

Any club which does not permit a junior lady member with a CONGU Handicap to compete in a qualifying round for the Championship shall not be entitled to forward a winner to the Regional Final.

CONDITIONS

The following conditions shall apply at all stages of the Health Perception LGU Championship.

1. The Health Perception LGU Championship shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status as approved by R&A Rules Limited.

2. A player is prohibited from having a golf professional serve as her caddie during the stipulated round.

Penalty for Breach of Condition:

Two strokes for each hole at which any breach occurred; maximum penalty per round – Four strokes.
In the event of a breach between the play of two holes, the penalty applies to the next hole.

A player having a caddie in breach of this condition must immediately upon discovery that a breach has occurred ensure that she conforms with this condition for the remainder of the stipulated round. Otherwise the player is disqualified.

3. If the player arrives at her starting point, ready to play, within five minutes after her starting time, in the absence of circumstances which warrant waiving the penalty of disqualification as provided in Rule 33-7, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes. The penalty for lateness beyond 5 minutes is disqualification. The organising committee reserves the right to amend starting times and groups.

4. Players must walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the Committee in accordance with the LGU Transportation Policy. A copy of the LGU Transportation Policy is available on the LGU Website at www.lgu.org. In the event of a breach between the play of two holes, the penalty applies to the next hole.
Use of any unauthorised form of transportation must be discontinued immediately upon discovery that a breach has occurred. Otherwise, the player is disqualified.

5. Each player is responsible for playing without undue delay.

REGULATIONS 

Qualifying Round

1. The Qualifying Round shall consist of 18 holes of individual stableford or medal to be held in April or May, to be decided by the Committee. 

2. In compliance with the Note to Rule 33-2b) and with the consent of the Club Committee, a club may arrange an Alternative Day for the Qualifying Round. 

3. Members of more than one club may compete in the qualifying round at each club where they are a member but may only compete in one Regional Final. 

4. The Committee is responsible for the running of the qualifying round at their club. 

5. Entry Fee - £1 per player.
 
6. Handicap allowance – full handicap. 

7. In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by card count back on the scores for the last 9 holes (or 6 or 3 or 1). If a tie still arises, the last 6 holes of the first 9 holes (or 3 or 1) will be used. If no decision is reached, a card play-off from the 1st hole will apply, failing which; the winner will be decided by lot. 

8. The winner of the qualifying round at each club shall receive a prize, subject to a minimum of 8 players entering. 

9. The winners from each qualifying round in Great Britain and Ireland shall be eligible to compete in a Regional Final. 

10. The Ladies’ Secretary of an affiliated club in Great Britain and Ireland, or her appointed representative, must send to the Ladies’ Golf Union:
• Entry fees for all competitors
• Results sheet
• Regional Final entry form

11. In all cases the decision of the Committee is final.

Regional Finals

1. Each Regional Final shall consist of 18 holes of individual stableford. 

2. Winners of qualifying rounds will be allocated to a Regional Final on a geographical basis. Winners may request to participate in a particular Regional Final and such request will be acceded to wherever possible. 

3. In the event of a qualifying round winner withdrawing from a Regional Final, the next placed player from the club qualifying round will qualify. 

4. Handicap stroke allowance – full handicap. 

5. Every competitor must register in person, with a current CONGU Handicap Certificate, not less than 15 minutes before her starting time.
 
6. The LGU reserves the right to amend starting times and groups and to appoint a marker if necessary.
 
7. In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by card count back on the scores for the last 9 holes (or 6 or 3 or 1). If a tie still arises, the last 6 holes of the first 9 holes (or 3 or 1) will be used. If no decision is reached, a card play-off from the 1st hole will apply, failing which; the winner will be decided by lot. 

8. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the organising committee reserves the right to alter the format of the competition in order to achieve a result. 

9. Winners of the Regional Finals in Great Britain and Ireland shall be eligible to play in the Grand Final. 

10. In all cases the decision of the LGU is final.

Grand Final

1. The Grand Final shall consist of 18 holes of individual stableford. 

2. In the event of a withdrawal from the Grand Final, the next available player from that Regional Final will qualify. 

3. Handicap allowance – full handicap.
 
4. Every competitor must register in person, with a current CONGU Handicap Certificate, not less than 15 minutes before her starting time. 

5. The LGU reserves the right to amend starting times and groups and to appoint a marker if necessary. 

6. In the event of a tie for the Championship, there shall be a play off immediately after the final card has been returned to determine the winner. The Championship Committee shall determine the format of the play –off. All other ties shall be decided by card count back on the scores for the last 9 holes (or 6 or 3 or 1). If a tie still arises, the last 6 holes of the first 9 holes (or 3 or 1) will be used. 

7. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the organising committee reserves the right to alter the format of the competition in order to achieve a result. 

8. The Perpetual trophy and replica will be awarded to the winner and shall be held for one year. Prizes will also be awarded to the 2nd and 3rd placed players. 

9. The Grand Final of the Health Perception LGU Championship has been approved by the R&A Rules Limited for the payment of expenses - Rule 4-2g RA/76/2005. 

10. In all cases the decision of the organising committee is final.
