The Grand Final of the 2005 Health Perception LGU Championship took place on Monday 26th September over the world famous Ailsa Course at the 5 star Westin Turnberry Golf Resort.
Driving winds and persistent rain greeted the finalists on the day as many found the scottish conditions extremely testing.
All competitors managed the front 9 well with 4 handicapper Olivia Higgins (Royal Jersey) turning in the lead with an impressive 18 points.
The back 9 was a different story however, as many of the players struggled as they turned back into the wind.
The stage was set for 9 year old Charley Hull from Kettering. Out in a respectable 14 points she matched that tally on the back 9 to finish with an overall score of 28 Stableford points. This score was good enough to tie for the lead with Janice Cloran from Manchester and ensure her place in a sudden death Championship play-off.
Both competitors managed a 6 on the first play-off hole but Charley proved too stong on the 2nd hole to triumph over Janice and take the 2005 title.
Charley will now tee up with one of the world's leading professionals at the Pro-Am of the Weetabix Women's British Open at Royal Lytham & St. Anne's next year.
