Wales v Ireland 2-4

Phil O'Gorman (Irish Captain) is confident heading into the final days play after a 4-2 win in this afternoons singles.  " The girls played really really well today, lots of birdies and if we maintain our performances for tomorrow we hope to have a great match with England" 

Match Round ups

Match 1: Tara Davies v Tara Delaney:


Wales get off to a great start with an impressive birdie on the 459-yard first hole, Ireland then make birdies on holes 4 and 7, a win on hole 5 takes the score to 3 up. Ireland remains 3 up after 12 holes. Ireland win the next hole to move to 4 up. Wales get one back, Ireland 3up. 15th hole is halved and Ireland remain three ahead. Ireland half to win the match on the 16th hole 3 & 2.

Match 2: Sahra Hassan v Danielle McVeigh:

Halves all the way to the 4th hole, a win to Ireland on the 5th hole and an eagle two on the 340-yard par 4 sixth, with Danielle McVeigh holing a pitch wedge shot, takes them to two up followed with a win for Wales on the seventh hole the match returns to one up to Ireland. Match goes to all square after 12 holes. Hole 13 won by Ireland with a par to move to one ahead. Wales win the 14th with the 15th hole taken by Ireland who return to one ahead. The 16th hole is also clinched by Ireland to take the lead by two, with two holes to play. After a halved 17th hole in par the match win goes to Ireland, 2 & 1. 

Match 3: Becky Harries v Gillian O’Leary

Ireland 1 up after nine, Wales win the tenth to take it back to level. Wales win the 11th to take the lead, conceded 12 and lost 13 to a par 4 to go to one down. Ireland remains one up after a half is recorded in 5’s on the 14th hole. 15th hole is shared in 4’s, Ireland remain one up. 16th hole gets conceded by Wales, Ireland go two ahead. Wales par the 17th to Ireland’s bogey to stay in the lead by one.  Wales concede the 18th to give Ireland the victory by 1 hole.

Match 4: Lydia Hall v Victoria Bradshaw


Wales 3up through nine, Ireland win back the 10th to go 2 down.
11,12 and 13 are tied in par. Hole 14 is halved in 4’s as is 15th to keep the score at Wales 3up. Match win for Wales on the 16th hole to complete the match 4 & 2. 

Match 5: Lucy Gould v Niamh Kitching

Level after 6 holes, Wales are 2 up after nine holes, both get pars on the tenth to remain 2up, hole 11 is also shared. Ireland win the 12th with a birdie and the 13th to take the match back to even. 14th hole won by Wales with a par four to go one ahead. Wales go two in front with a win on the par 4 15th hole. Ireland win the 16th hole with par to keep Wales in the lead by one. Match goes to even after 17th hole.  Ireland win the match with a par on the 18th hole. 

Match 6: Stephanie Evans v Maura Morrin

Wales go into the lead after six holes, Ireland win the 10th hole to return to all square. Wales win th hole with a par to lead by two. Hole 13 was halved to keep Wales 2 ahead. After 15 Wales remains one up and are conceded the 16th to go 2up. Wales one up after 17 and won the 18 to win by 2 holes.

England v Scotland 4 1/2 - 1 1/2

Match 7: Naomi Edwards v Jenna Wilson 

England move into the lead to score 4up after eight holes. A Half on hole 9 keeps England 4 holes ahead at the turn. 10th hole is halved and England win the 11th with a par to increase their lead to 5up. England conceded the 12th hole to Scotland and move back to 4 in the lead. 13 & 14 holes are shared, Scotland won the next three holes, par on 15th hole, birdied 16th, won 17 with a par and halved 18 for Edwards to win by one hole. 

Match 8: Rachel Bell v Carly Booth 

Scotland move to three up after seven as Booth wins five holes in a row. Hole 8 and 9 are halved. Hole 11 is taken by Scotland with a par four to move to three ahead. 12th was shared with birdies, 13th hole was halved with pars, Scotland remain 3up. England concede 14th hole to allow Scotland to go four holes in front. England get a win on 15, to take it to 3 and a half hole on 16 resulted in a Scottish match win of 3 & 2.

Match 9: Kerry Smith v Laura Murray 

England start off well with a birdie on the first hole, they go to three up after six holes, and win the 7th hole to go four up. Hole 9 was then halved in 5’s to allow England to remain 4up. 10th and 11th holes were shared in 4’s to keep England 4 ahead. 12 halved, Scotland win one back at 13 to take it back to 3 ahead. England now 2 up through 14, they win the 15th, loose the 16th hole and halved the 17th to give England the match by 2 & 1. 

Match 10: Liz Bennett v Megan Briggs 

England go 3up after five holes, England gain another hole and move to four up after six. Hole 10 is even to keep the English player 4up. Scotland win hole 8 with a birdie 3 to take the score back to three down. Hole 12 was conceded by England on 9th hole to take them back to 2 up. England remain two up after 10 holes, a win on 11 takes them to three up. Scotland win the 12th hole with a birdie 4 to bring England back to two up.  England won 13 and 14 to go 4up, Scotland won the 15 to take it back to 3up, a birdie on 16 sealed a 4 & 2 victory.

Match 11: Claire Aitken v Pamela Pretswell 
Scotland go two up after three holes and half the next to stay that way, England win with a birdie two on the fifth hole to go three down. 6th hole was halved, Scotland win the 7th hole then England win the 8th and 9th hole to return the match to level. Aiken makes a par on 10 to win the hole and move into the lead. England three up after 15 holes, half on 16 won the match 3 & 2.   

Match 12: Rachel Jennings v Michele Thomson

All square after three holes, England concede number four and holes five and six are halved, Scotland remain one up. 7th hole is also halved, 8th hole see England returning the match to all square. Scotland win the 9th hole to move to one ahead. 10 is halved, and remains all square after 17 holes.  The match heads down the last hole as many spectators gather to find out who will win this very close match.  18th hole halved giving each team a half point.
