The Astor Trophy (formerly the Commonwealth Tournament) was presented by Nancy, Viscountess Astor CH and the LGU for competition, once every four years, between teams of women amateur golfers. The trophy was first played for in 1959. Competing countries, GB&I, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa nominate 5 players, plus a non-playing captain, and play in the two foursomes and five singles matches each day.
