Irish pair wins 2009 Peugeot Coronation Foursomes
Corrstown Golf Club representatives Joan Nelson & Marie Cleary became the 2009 Peugeot LGU Coronation Foursome Champions after a faultless game played in windy conditions over the Eden Course, St Andrews.Several high scoring holes on their card helped them to a victorious 43 point total.
For Joan, a 22 handicapper and her partner Marie Cleary, 26 hcp, on their first visit to St Andrews, it was a wonderful day.
The bonus prize for Joan and Marie is a place in the pro-am of the 2010 Ricoh Women's British Open at Royal Birkdale where they will be paired with one of the world's leading professionals.
The winning pair finished well clear of the rest of the field with Margaret Hartley and Jane Evans (Elsham) finishing in 2nd place on a very respectable 35 points. 3rd place was decided on card countback at 33pts with Anne Preston and Margery Greatbach (Whickham) winning from another couple on the same total.
