Girls' International teams head into final singles matches

10.08.2007

England play Ireland and Scotland play Wales this morning in the Girls’ International Matches played over the testing Southerndown Golf Course, for the final day with some outstanding golf played this morning.

Scotland’s mighty pairing of Krystle Caithness and Sally Watson only needed to play 11 holes this morning to win 8 & 7 over Laura Jane Roberts and Gemma Bradbury (Wales), who had her first hole in one yesterday at the 5th hole with a nine iron.

The other two matches proved to be much closer with the Booth & Briggs halfing their match with Rees and O’Connor. The final match between Pretswell and Turner and Wales’ Carling and Miller was won by Scotland on the 18th giving Scotland another victory and a score of 2 ½ - ½.

Twelve-year-old Irish twins Leona and Lisa Maguire halved their foursomes’ match going all the way to the 18th with Givens and Barwood (England). Ireland and England then won a match each to even the score to 1 ½ - 1 ½.

Singles Matches tee off at 13.10 this afternoon.
