LGU Breakthrough Brooch proves a huge success
07.10.2009
Over £10,500 has been raised for the LGU's partner charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, through the "pink tee" Breakthrough Brooch.
The Brooch was introduced this year for presentation to the winners of September medal competitions, and is a direct replacement for the former LGU Pendant.Over 900 clubs have participated in this year's fundraiser, and orders for the brooch are continuing to flow in.
Brigid McCaw, LGU Chairman, said "The main purpose of the Brooch is to raise funds for our partner charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and the response to the initiative has been incredible. Like me, I'm sure you know a number of ladies who are stricken by breast cancer, and this contribution from lady golfers throughout Great Britain and Ireland will greatly help in the fight against this disease".
Breakthrough has the following message for those who have participated to date:-"On behalf of Breakthrough Breast Cancer, a big thank you to all clubs who have donated money for the "Pink Tee" brooches. Your support means we can keep making a real difference to the lives of people affected by breast cancer. Together we can be the breakthrough and remove the fear of breast cancer for good".
The Brooches can still be ordered through the LGU website, and fundraising activities will continue into 2010, when the LGU is offering golf clubs a top fundraiser prize of 4 complimentary season tickets for the Ricoh Women's British Open at Royal Birkdale, including lunch for four on one of the days, as guests of the LGU.
Over £10,500 has been raised already for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
